My Writing History
A little more
about me.
My first memory of “writing” dates back to before I was even literate. My aunt, a teacher, encouraged me to draw a story and together, we put words to the pictures. She laminated it and I still have the little book to this day. (It was about a girl exploring a house and eating chicken. Riveting stuff, really.)
At the time, I could never imagine how much writing would impact my life. Or even more so, how the power of words shapes the entire world around all of us.
My first job out of college was as a content manager for Aol, writing headlines, photo captions, and blogs for their teen property, then called Red. I quickly learned the art of “quipy,” quirky copy.
Since then, I’ve continued on a creative journey, hopping from “Dulles Corridor” internet start-ups to trying my own hand at entrepreneurship by running a condiment company, and now working full-time on content strategy and execution for a Fortune 500 tech company.
After years of constantly lending my pen to family and friends who need editorializing, I’ve fully realized writing as one of my most honed skills, and truly as an innate part of who I am.
